Diet Continues
The digital camera is back, but I don't feel like taking some pictures. It's been raining, and when things dry out I'll pull the Blast out and take some pictures of the Corbin. I had a dear old friend write me, someone I haven't heard from in a while and I forgot to mention my weightloss progress to her so I'll do it here. The diet continues, my last weigh-in was yesterday and I weighed 212. I started out at 235 when I started the diet a while ago. Hopefully I can keep this up, and get to somewhere between 170 and 180. Like all the times in the past I have lost weight, the cinching has begun. I bought five pairs of pants when I got a new job, and I have had the pants for maybe 6 weeks, and since getting them my waist size has shrunk 3 belt notches, and now four. So the pants are having to be cinched up. I have some smaller pants, 3 pair, which I am trying each time (they're new) I lose more weight, about once a week, and hopefully at some point I'll fit into them at some point. My shirts, extra large, hang off me now instead of bunching up at my hips, or making me look poochie in the belly (hah). I'm going to have to replace alot of clothes hopefully, new motorcycle jackets, new winter coats, new jeans, pants, new work shirts, dress shirts, a new suit, new underwear, etc.. I'd like to wear mediums in shirts, and underoos before all is said and done, that would be dreamlike for me. Anyway, If it takes six months to get where I want to go, I just hope I have the resolve to get there.. and then to be able to figure out a way to maintain it.

That's all for tonight.

Corbin Seat for Buell Blast
Well the replacement seat for my Buell Blast arrived from Corbin. My friend Fred called me on the phone just as I was driving into the driveway, and I do not talk on the phone in the car but I thought it might be Maru so I answered it. It had just arrived that day it turns out. As such it took me 2 days before getting around to installing it. I was dreading it as I was worried it might not be right like the last one. Turns out when I fitted it today it was fine and fit well. The original seat pan must have been majorly warped or torqued from the leather being too tight on the seat plan. They rivet the leather to the pan, not staple it, and the new seat is as nice in fit and finish as the original.. except there are no huge gaps! Patrick at Corbin seats was VERY helpful, I'd highly recommend Corbin now, both for the quality of their seats and the friendliness and help of their customer service department.

Diet
I've lost 10 pounds now in about 2 weeks, from going on a reduced calorie diet, walking more, and riding my bicycle (oh and walking the dog). If I keep up with this, (and I have to as I'm not getting any younger) then hopefully in six months I'll finally be to my target weight of 170-175 pounds. Why 170 to 175 pounds? Well, I checked a chart out there and based on my height that is the healthy weight for my height and build. That means at 225 (I was 235 when I started the diet 2 weeks ago) I'm still 50 to 55 pounds heavier than I should be. All of my life I've always had a few extra pounds, I weighed 180 in High School when I graduated, and that was just a little overweight I guess when I look at the Chart... My butt has always been big since that's a trait in our family (well, it's where my extra weight was and is) and my Dad at my age started getting a gut and I don't want that to happen to me. So I figure if I can just get my weight finally down to the right level, and then maintain it for the rest of my life I'll be doing alright.

Part of doing that means cutting out alot of red meat, eating vegetables, staying away from breaded chicken and fish, drinking fat free milk, eating reasonable portions (like a sandwich for lunch, on NORMAL bread), not eating fried foods, drinking Kool-Aid, Water, and diet drinks, not eating tons of bread, chips, or potatos (yep, goodbye fries, don't eat potatos anymore and when I get down I won't eat them very often). It means staying away from Pasta, or eating reasonable portions. It means filling up on fruit like melons, apples, kiwi, etc.. Lowfat yogurt, and granola and Special-K bars for breakfast, sometimes lunch. Some days I eat a NORMAL meal once a day, and eat fruit, Special-K bars, and granola bars for snacks.

My stomach and body is getting used to the change, because I changed my diet my digestive system has to adjust to the healthier foods. My stomach is shrinking due to me consuming less food as it has when I've dieted before.. and it takes less to fill me up. I also drink alot of water. When I was in Junior High and High School I was thin most of the time, and I remember I used to drink ALOT of water and fluids. Alot more than I have since I got older. We'll see how it goes. If I can get to 170 that would be great. It does mean though several changes of clothes as it happens. I've already lost an inch or two in my waist, and need to put more notches in my belt. Once I got down to 195 and my belt went all the way around to the middle of my back (yeah, I know, buy a new belt!). I'll make sure I do that this time.

Anyway, signing off.. Hope to keep updating this more often than before. Would post some pictures, but the digital camera is out at the moment. :-)

So much for being proactive and updating this more often!
The amount of SPAM I have been getting on a daily basis for each of my e-mail accounts is staggering. I've gotten in the habit of switching the e-mail address for my feedback form about once a month due to the junk people keep sending me. Thunderbird's SPAM filter is the only thing which makes it manageable, and it's pretty good at learning what is junk and dumping it in the trash. I get so many ads for Levitra, Nigerian 419 scams, Viagra, Home Loans, Etc.. you name it. One spammer is constantly tacking on a trojan horse program (VBS.Banker?), I donno.. My virus protection software picks it up the minute it hits the mailbox and deletes it. Why they want to SPAM me I donno, I'm not a receptive audience for the things they are selling... I've only bought things off a TV commercial twice in my life, and one of them I sent back and got a full refund on. I typically laugh at the AS SEEN ON TV label.

Books I am reading at the moment include:

I started another diet about a week ago...
So far I'm eating mainly vegetables. If it weren't for some Fish or Chicken I'd not be eating any meat. For breakfast most days I consume a Granola Bar that's 90 Calories (Raisin Oatmeal, Chocolate Chunk, or Honey Nut) or a Special K Bar that's also 90 calories (Strawberry or Chocolate Drizzle). Some days I eat a yogurt cup for breakfast (Strawberry or Peach, Lowfat). If I get hungry between breakfast and lunch I eat a piece of fruit, usually some Kiki, an Apple or Grapefruit. Lunch is usually a sandwich, either Tuna or Cheese with some mayo on Wheat Bread and a piece of fruit. Again, snack later on would be fruit. I also chew sugarless gum and drink alot of water. Dinner is usually a salad, sometimes with fish (baked) or chicken breast patties (baked, no breading), or the salad might have some chopped chicken breast in it. The last meat I ate was a Tuna sandwich today for lunch. The last time I ate any red meat was on Friday, when my dad and I went out to eat and I had some roast beef at a cafeteria.

I'm riding my bicycle, trying to do it each day, and to go a long distance. I take a pack and some water with me. The only way to keep my glasses on when I'm riding is to take some shrink-wrap tubing and fit it over the ear hook on each side and then tighten it up and it won't fall off. Marie doesn't like that I use red ones, but they're precut to the right length. I suppose I should get out the box of wiring supplies I have and get some of the black but it's a utilitarian thing to me... It doesn't matter much.

Projects...
Haven't worked on any real projects recently. I sent my seat back to Corbin, still waiting to see what happens with that. Have some wood to build a Zen gate in the backyard, but it's been so hot I'm not really feeling like it... and I need to work on my Dad's old Jon boat he gave me that we used to fish in when I was a kid. The trailer needs to be painted, and the boat has some holes where things were screwed on that need to be filled, and I need to yank off the rotten seats it has and fill the holes where they were screwed on and paint the interior gray. I haven't been fishing in forever, but I'd like to go again, I always used to enjoy fishing in my canoe. It was more a solitary thing for me, just getting out on the water and being alone.

Martial Arts...
I am maintaining our dojos website, it's at http://www.arkansasbujinkan.com and need to make some updates in a few minutes to the seminars page. The last class was very good as I learned alot of new things. I'm still working on rolling, but making progress thanks to Jeff S and Aaron. Jeff told me a few weeks back to focus on looking at the ceiling as I rolled, and combined with breathing out as Rob told me to, and then Aaron holding my hand (you shoot your hand between your legs as you do a forward roll) to show me properly how my hand should go as I roll I think I'm doing a little better. I also got walked through the whole Sanshin this last class which was great... Aaron and Regina helped me with that. I'm wanting to make some experimental/practice weapons like a naginata, and a Ninja-To but need materials. I need a couple of 4' oak dowel rods, maybe an inch and a half thick, and then I can work on them. I also need to make a wooden tsuba for Aaron and make another for my Shotto.

That's about it for today. I'm going to work on the Dojo site.
