Motorcycle Madness
Alot has happened since the last update.
We got our sheepskin seat covers in,
and I installed them on my bike and
Maru's bike (you can see photos at http://www.vn750.com
and http://www.sporttwin.com).
They definitely make for a more comfortable
ride, I ordered them from Colorado Sheepskin
and they custom made them for our bikes.
We sent in Maru's Buell XB Touring seat
and they had a pattern for the Vulcan
750.
I
also took some pictures of Maru riding
in a curve, and created an animated
GIF of some of the burst mode photos
from our camera.
I
rode to Natchez Trace, and spent the
night in my tent recently. It was supposed
to be part of a longer journey that
Maru had planned, but I didn't feel
like going 2500 miles on highways to
the East Coast after a night in the
tent with thunderstorms and lightning
all night long. So I turned around and
went back home. I did about 650 miles
in two days with that... The sheepskin
seat really helped. People looked at
me like I was crazy, but I saw quite
a few motorcyclists on the interstate.
Below is a picture of my VN750 and my
campsite. The bike was parked at the
Arkansas visitors center in the picture
above, right outside of West Memphis
on the way back. Three Goldwings pulling
trailers pulled in just as I was leaving.

Maru
met another Buell rider (Aaron, hope
I spelled your name right man. :-),
we have seen so many in the area recently
while riding. Once on our trip to Hot
Springs recently we saw a BUNCH of Buell's
(Maru was a passenger on the Vulcan
that day). Anyway, he has an XB12R which
he has customized, and he does alot
of his own work including stretching
and mounting his own tires, and TPS
resets, you name it (cool, we needed
to know someone who had alot of these
tools to do the work as taking it to
the dealer can get expensive sometimes
for small stuff like a TPS reset).
I'm
going to be replacing the decals on
the Blast soon, I got the XB12X stainless
steel and black decals in that will
replace the blue flat stickers that
came on the bike. I'm just doing research
first to find out what the best way
to remove the decals and put the new
ones on is. I'll post pictures when
I get it done.
Vulcan
750 Discontinued? Apparently
Kawasaki has discontinued the Vulcan
750. 2006 will be the last year model
for the VN750 according to sources on
the VN750.com forum. Kawasaki has already
made the announcement, and they're going
to have 3 models of Vulcan 900. I hadn't
cared for the Vulcan 900, until I saw
one today at Sunrise Honda in Searcy.
They had a plain black Vulcan 900, belt
drive, floorboards, with a backrest
roll, and Leatherlyke bags on it and
I liked it. The wheels were black, the
bike had retro fenders... I think I
would like one of those, but I don't
want to sell the 750 as I've had it
only a year and enjoy riding it. Give
it a couple of years, and maybe I'll
be in the market for one... I've got
too many accessories on mine at the
moment, and I doubt Maru would want
the bike for herself.
