Buell Blast with new tank decalsBuell Blast with new tank decals12/01/2006
Winter Temps/Riding & Maintenance
We went riding a couple
of weekends ago. Took the Vulcan and the XB9 and headed to Mount Magazine. We took 89 up to Conway, but didn't realize that a good stretch of it is dirt (nice) and gravel. It was slow going but we made it to Toad Suck and then on to Mount Magazine.

We stopped in Paris, Arkansas and took some photos, and then took the highway back home.

Buell Blast
I installed the new tank decals on my blast today. They're decals for a Buell Ulysses. I paid about $30.00 for them. They're a stainless/silver that matches the frame of the blast, and black. I was gonna leave off the American Motorcycles rocker on them, but decided to go ahead and put it on.

It required yanking the tank cover. I used a hair dryer to remove the old decals, and that took 5 minutes. Then I washed the tank inside and out after I took off the tank bra. Then I degreased the tank and prepped for the decals. The decals took about 30 minutes to install, mainly because I kept checking the fit before peeling off the backing and applying them. I pressed them on really good, and let them sit taped on a while before I pulled the transfer paper and tape off. Then I used some Corbin Saddle Cream on the bra, and reinstalled the tank with a new oil spout gasket and the bra reapplied and bolted it back in place. I then lathered up the Corbin seat with cream and installed it.

I took the bike for a short ride (45 degrees out) to the ballpark, and took some photos of the bike with the setting sun. It needs a wash! Anyway, the decals look pretty good. Much nicer than the stock flat ones. I had put some Stabil in the tank so I took it for a 30 minute ride and warmed it up good enough to check the oil level (which was fine).

Pictures are below and above. Enjoy!
